Hello families, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and rested after last week excitement! We had Halloween fun and watched Dr. Copeland on a horse! This week is going to be exciting also. We are going back in time and learning about creatures who are extinct, exploring plant parts, and making patterns!
In reading this week students will read the selection The Big Circle. Our comprehension focus is sequence. In spelling we'll focus on the long o spelled with the silent E. In grammar we'll assess proper nouns and begin learning about contractions.
In unit study we are going to continue to pretend to be botanists. The students will learn to label and name the functions of each plant part.
In math we begin our chapter on patterns. Students will learn to identify the pattern unit (what repeats), name and extend a pattern, and create their own pattern.
