8/29-9/2

Hello Families!

We had a great week. Our support drive climbs everyday! Thank you for all who have supported our classroom but most importantly our school! We welcomed our second Mystery Reader, Charly Nanney's dad and he brought the class a really special treat! Thank you Mr. Nanney!!! In addition to Mr. Nanney visiting, Zero the Hero came to our classroom to celebrate the 20th day of school.

The upcoming week we are ending the Entertainment Book fundraiser! Wednesday is the absolute last day to turn everything in! On the other hand the CSPN support drive is not over until September 9. Be a Campus School supporter! Do not forget Skate Night is Thursday at the Cordova Skate Center!!!

This week we will be journeying through marvelous new territory.

In language arts we are going to be reading The Big Blue Ox by Susan Crummel. We will be learning about short -o and plurals (-s) while developing and practicing good sentences. The students will develop an understanding of how there are two parts of a sentence; the naming part and the action part. Also we will be learning about settings.

In math we will be reviewing addition problems and the parts of a math sentence. The students will learn how to count on and learn the doubles!

Finally in our unit study we will be learning about non-living and living creatures and animal classifications!

So get ready tigers it is going to be a great week!

August 22-26

Hello families!!!

Last week we had a wonderful time. We learned a new song about our senses, enjoyed using our taste buds while trying jell-o brains. We made tasty domino treats and welcomed our first mystery reader, Frances' grandmother, Dee-Dee!! She read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and gave our class beautiful pencils! Thanks Dee-Dee. Finally, we enjoyed our third Family Gathering and participated in an amazing performance from Mrs. Faulkner's third grade class. We learned our first CAMPUS TIGER PRIDE: Cooperation!! Great job Mrs. Faulkner's class! Also want to give a thank you for all the families who have participated in the CSPN support drive! Our participation percent is rising!!!

This week we are diving into new adventures!

In language arts we are reading Pig in a Wig, learning about realism and fantasy, and introducing short i and final -x. Also we are continuing learning about sentences and welcoming Captain Capitol and Paul Period back in our class!

In math we are making number all the way to twelve and labeling the parts of a math sentence.

Finally in our unit study we are continuing our exploration of the brain!!! We are going to be learning about all the different ways we are smart! We call these THE SMARTS!!!

It is going to be a great week full fun, learning, and high expectations!
